Course format:
The course is presented on-line and consists of 4 modules and 11 sections. Each module consists of an introductory video, text and pictures.
Aim of the course:
Current regulations (PUWER) require all users of work equipment including magnetic lifters undergo some training for that equipment, this course is intended to address this requirement by explaining the principles of magnetic lifting and demonstrating how to use this equipment in a safe manner.
Course content:
- To understand the basic principles of a magnetic lifting system
- To identify the potential dangers when using a magnetic lifter
- To understand what can cause the failure of a lift and prevent this from happening
- To select the correct equipment for a particular application
- To be able to assess a non-standard application and determine if the lift is safe
- To undertake a safe lift
- To have an awareness of LOLER requirements and be able to undertake pre-use inspections
- To know how to deal with emergencies
Learning outcome:
To provide candidates with the knowledge and training required to use this type of equipment in a safe way and as such promote a safer working environment.
